For one night only, the Art Gallery of New South Wales presents a free evening performance by acclaimed Australian–American musician C.W. Stoneking. C.W. Stoneking’s sound weaves together New Orleans brass, African and Caribbean percussion, early 20th-century blues, jazz, folk guitar and gospel-inspired vocals into something entirely his own. Inspired by the exhibition Nolan: Origins, Stoneking will transform the galleries with a richly atmospheric performance that echoes the myths, landscapes and stories that shaped Sidney Nolan’s imagination. Prior to the performance, join Denise Mimmocchi, curator of Nolan: Origins, for a tour of the exhibition at 6pm (exhibition ticket required).
