Global musical traditions and jazz to create deeply rhythmic and immersive performances Standing Circle is a Melbourne/Naarm-based contemporary ensemble led by composer, guitarist and instrument innovator Larry Crestani, best known for his work with Black Jesus Experience. The Circle draws on global musical traditions and jazz to create deeply rhythmic and immersive performances. At the heart of the project is Lorenzo’s distinctive musical voice, shaped by years of cross-cultural collaboration and expressed through his custom-built Kraartar: a unique hybrid of the Ethiopian kraar and the guitar. Standing Circle will release its first record on September 18 via Lasape Records, and will perform in Sydney/Warrane for a couple of very special shows. Standing Circle regularly collaborates with musicians from across Australia. For its Sydney/Warrane performance at Lazy Bones, the ensemble features acclaimed local artists, including drummer Abby Constable and saxophonist Harry Tompsett + Richard Rose - bass , bringing a fresh touch to the band's ever-changing sound. Standing Circle celebrates collaboration, spontaneity and the rich diversity of Australia’s contemporary creative music scene. Level 1 is the intimate room. 5pm Doors/Restaurant 🍷 🍕 6.30pm band
