20 piece Jazz Big Band Formed in 2001 by Enigmatic trumpeter, ARIA winning artist, and fondly remembered ‘Dr of Jazz’, Vlad Khusid, Dr V's Swing Thing is a 20-piece Jazz Big Band comprising jazz alumni from Sydney Grammar School. The group has performed concerts at festivals all over Australia from Darwin to Wangaratta to Manly to Orange and has a deep interest in performing the entire breadth of the jazz canon including sophisticated new music to classics from the swing era and beyond. The ensemble delivers a tightness and enthusiasm for the genre rarely seen in Australian big bands, informed by a passion and sustained commitment to challenging its members with exciting, dynamic yet accessible music. 2026 marks a new chapter for Dr V’s under the leadership of Andrew Robertson, acclaimed arranger, performer and educator whose diverse experience spans from the 2021 Super Bowl & Eurovision (arrangements) to performing with Michael Buble, Wayne Bergeron and Broadway. Guest acclaimed Sydney singer Jo Fabro joins the band again with her beautiful voice and charismatic charm for a night not to be missed. 5pm Doors/ Restaurant 🍷 🍕 6.30pm Band🎤
