Gabriel Fischer: Makronomaly

A snare drum doesn't need to be struck to sing. Place a sound beside it, let the frequencies breathe against the skin and something else entirely begins to happen. The work employs 4 snare drums, 4 speakers, and 1 performer, investigating sound as a physical, living thing, not something we simply hear, but something that moves through us. Pre-recorded audio triggers through speakers positioned beside drums on the floor, creating shifting acoustic patterns unique to each performance. The artist is an award-winning percussionist and composer with a Master's from Musikhochschule Lübeck.
