Laymoon Presents: DJ Course with DJ Matab 4-Week Program | Sundays 12:30–2:30 PM | Starting January 18 2026 Laymoon invites you to a four-session DJ program designed for beginners and the DJ-curious, anyone who’s ever wondered what really happens behind the decks, or who’s ready to take the first step toward performing a set of their own. It’s also perfect for those who’ve already dabbled in DJing and want to strengthen their skills with solid theory, methodology and practice. Across the four Sundays, DJ Matab will guide you through: • Understanding how DJs work and how music fits together • Basic music theory for mixing • Getting comfortable with DJ equipment • Beat matching and transitions • Using effects creatively • How to prepare and set up for your first gig • Insight into the local DJ scene and industry This course is hands-on, welcoming, and paced to build confidence from the ground up. After each class, participants are invited to walk over to The Rocket Society, Rumi's sister venue, to watch DJs play live and enjoy Middle Eastern snacks and drinks, a chance to see concepts in action and connect through music. Everyone is welcome, no prior experience needed! Come explore, learn, and uncover your own unique sound.

Laymoon Arts is an organisation dedicated to advancing Arab arts and to exploring their intersections with the many cultures that surround them. It is the creation of six Naarm-based creatives, each deeply connected to their communities and cultures from the Arab-speaking region, and shaped by their rich experiences across it. Collectively, we bring expertise in music, performing arts, visual arts, culinary arts, community building, and not-for-profit leadership. Laymoon (ليمون) means “lemon” in Arabic - a reminder of home, and the burst of flavour, colour, and memory that connects us to our region, our land, and our roots.
