Introducing CALD Club, a new comedy series that highlights the voices, cultures and personalities that make our community vibrant. The first iteration is Shades of Brown, a warm and colourful night featuring some of Naarm's finest comedians. Bahaa is bringing CALD Club to Capers for the café’s first comedy night and turning the space into a lively room full of stories, perspective and energy. About the Host
Since leaving Syria ten years ago, Bahaa has worked and volunteered in the refugee sector, dedicating his time to supporting displaced communities and advocating for refugee rights. After six years of navigating the hard reality of refugees in Turkey, he landed in Australia and committed to doing everything in his power to help bring people closer to refugees. His mission is to shift the narrative towards all displaced people.Hoping that one day soon, future generations of displaced people will be welcomed as an opportunity not a threat. Through his advocacy initiative and podcast, Refugee Thoughts, Bahaa shares everyday stories and perspectives to help others better understand the refugee experience. As a stand-up comedian (@hahawithbaha), he brings the refugee experience to unexpected audiences, using humor to break barriers and foster understanding.
