Mondo Ritmo & Tangle are proud to present DAMES BROWN (Defected/Glitterbox) - for an exclusive live set at The Night Cat on Friday December 5th, with support from DJ JNETT!🧨 Detroit has produced many notable female vocalists from the Motown era to the big sounds of Gospel & Soul. Enter Dames Brown – a unique trio of vocalists who are making their mark on the House music scene, both at home and abroad. Epitomising the very best of their hometown's unparalleled musical heritage, Detroit's Dames Brown are a vocal trio you may not yet know by name but are sure to know by voice. Lending their exquisite range to a number of modern house essentials, including Sophie Lloyd's 'Calling Out (Your Name)’, The Vision featuring Andreya Triana 'Heaven' and David Penn's 'Nobody’. Their live show is a non-stop, up-beat expression of classic House music that has captivated fans worldwide. Since 2015 the Dames have performed with the likes of Parliament-Funkadelic, Soul Clap, and RZA of The Wu-Tang Clan. In 2018, they signed with Defected Records which led to a series of shows across Europe at festivals in England, Spain, and Croatia. They have since featured on albums with noted artists like Amp Fiddler, Ben Westbeech, Horse Meat Disco and Lee Scratch Perry. In recent years, Athena Johnson, Teresa Marbury and LaRae Starr released 'What Would You Do?' in 2021 to critical acclaim. Produced by long-time collaborator of the group and fellow Motor City native Amp Fiddler and Andrés, with French house superstar Folamour lending his signature funk-filled groove to the remix with lush synth, bass licks and live instrum entation to give 'What Would You Do?' another lease of life for informed selectors. With a new album on the way, the Dames are set to launch themselves in 2026, so don’t miss your chance to catch them in the round at Naarm’s favourite live music venue - The Night Cat on Friday December 5 Supporting on the night is non other than House music royalty, DJ JNETT, who needs little introduction. She’s well and truely established herself as this countries driving force when it comes to the house music scene, supporting the likes of Moodymann, Ron Trent, Floating Points and Detroit’s own Marcellus Pittman. Local Producer/DJ Phinious will be performing live, showcasing his signature bass-driven tropical rhythms alongside Claire Mac on vocals, fresh from releasing the soulful house anthem ‘Hypnotise’. Mondo Ritmo resident Mythtapes will also throw down his usual blend of percussive energy, crossing borders and genres.
