Continuing a golden musical collaboration, Monique diMattina and Rebecca Barnard thrill fans of Dylan and the art of song, with their duo show The Dao of Dylan. Hear well known chapters from the ‘Book of Bob’ soulfully re-interpreted by 2 of Melbourne’s favourite songwriters, as Monique and Rebecca weave comic strands between the Nobel prize winner’s lyrics and the grand themes of life, the universe and almost everything. In this show well known chapters from the 'Book of Bob' are soulfully re-interpreted, while these two celebrated songwriters tell tall and telling tales on the mystic resonance of Dylan’s work in their lives and music. Hear ‘Don’t Think Twice’ boogie thrashed, ‘The Man in the Long Black Coat’ re-worked to gothic eeriness and all the Dylan songs that start with the line ‘Early in the Morning’, who stole from who (Dylan? The Beatles? The Stones? Joan Baez?) how to stay Forever Young and much more. Monique diMattina Monique diMattina is an acclaimed Australian pianist, composer and singer-songwriter whose work spans jazz, roots, pop and contemporary classical music. A Fulbright, Queen’s Trust and Australia Council award recipient, she has released multiple solo piano and vocal albums, composed for film and stage, and is known for her warm, virtuosic performances blending music and storytelling. She is also a Yamaha artist and teaches jazz at the VCA and Monash University. Rebecca Barnard Rebecca Barnard is one of Australia’s most distinctive and beloved vocalists, known for her rich, expressive voice and genre-spanning work across jazz, pop and rock. Best known as the frontwoman of 90s band Rebecca’s Empire, she has also built a celebrated solo career, drawing on influences from Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong to Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan. Her recent jazz album The Night We Called It A Day pays tribute to her deep musical roots.
