On-Ly 'BURN' Album Launch + Standing Circle 'The Run Up' Single Launch

Presented by On-Ly and High Note BURN is the second full-length band album from On-Ly, the contemporary fusion project led by Melbourne pianist and composer Joshua Smeltink. Drawing from electric jazz, psychedelic fusion, Latin groove and high- energy improvisation, BURN moves freely between through-composed works, open forms and deeply rhythmic ensemble playing. At its core is a shifting collective of improvisers, each iteration shaping the sound that defines On-Ly today—pure, controlled combustion. The current five-piece ensemble represents the most complete expression of that musical identity to date. Released independently, BURN is available exclusively on Bandcamp. Premiering live at High Note on Friday, 7 August, BURN is brought to life by Joshua “On-Ly” Smeltink (Grand Piano & Rhodes), Daniel Waddingham (Electric Guitar), Joshua Manu (Electric Bass), Miles Henry (Drums) and Yunior Madden (Congas & Percussion). Opening the evening, Standing Circle launch their new single, "The Run Up", with a one-off expanded performance. Building on the world of the single, the group explores its themes and textures through improvisation and extended ensemble interplay. "The Run Up" captures the relentless momentum of city life—a constant pursuit of what's next beneath a haze of neon lights and endless motion. Standing Circle features Larry Crestani (Guitar), Hue Blanes (Keys), Richard Rose (Electric Bass), Sam Young (Drums) and Kahan Harper (Percussion).
