Halaqa: Sound of Carriage Spoken Word, Live Music, Stories in the Tram Presented in collaboration with Club Unity Saturday 13 December 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM The Tram at Lot 19, 19 McShanag Rd, Castlemaine VIC 3450 Halaqa: Sound of Carriage is a special edition of Halaqa, an intimate gathering of spoken word, storytelling, and live acoustic music held inside the historic tram carriage at Lot 19. The tram no longer travels, yet it carries atmosphere, memory, and quiet magic, a perfect space for soft listening and shared creativity. Halaqa is a grassroots intercultural gathering where art becomes conversation, where people meet across cultures and languages, and where everyone becomes part of the circle rather than an audience. This edition will feature live Persian music by Sanaz Saadatfar and Mohammad Mirkarimi on kamancheh and daf, as well as a performance by Camille El Feghali on qanun. We will also have poets and storytellers sharing spoken word pieces shaped by reflection, connection, and community. Inside the tram, we will weave music, stories, and voice in a warm communal setting accompanied by Persian tea and sweets. Presented in collaboration with Club Unity. After Halaqa closes at 5:00 PM, guests with combined tickets may continue into the outdoor Club Unity event at Lot 19, a vibrant celebration with music, stalls, food, and community energy across the grounds. We acknowledge that this event takes place on Djaara Country and pay our respects to the Dja Dja Wurrung people as the Traditional Custodians of this land. This always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.
